When the sizzling sounds of Brazil entered the mainstream of American jazz and rock in the 60s, Airto Moriera, the world's foremost percussionist, became the leader of this innovative musical movement. Airto is joined by his wife, Flora Purim, whose six-octave vocal range creates one of the most innovative voices in modern jazz. These two renowned artists have collaborated with such legends as Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Gil Evans, Chick Corea and Paul Simon. Recorded live from the Queen Mary Jazz Festival, experience the rhythmic sights and sounds of Latin Jazz. Airto & Flora Purim, with sax great Joe Farrell, perform selections including Scat...Man, Shoulder, Light as a Feather and Flora's Fling. They are joined with an exciting capoeira performance by the Batucaje Dance Troupe.
