Starring Finnish Oscar Winners PETER FRANZEN and IRINA BJORKLUND, this beautiful film takes place in the first days of World War II in Russian Karelia close to the Finnish border. A young lieutenant accepts a dangerous reconnaissance mission behind enemy lines in exchange for the evacuation of his beautiful fiancée to nurse in a safer area. During his mission he receives the tragic news that the Russians managed to have killed her regardless of his precautions. Will the war and her death change not only the exterior of his country, but the interior soul of the man also?
