Betsy Ross (Silent)

This film about the life of Betsy Ross portrays the maker of the first Stars and Stripes flag is a different light due to the relatively unknown story of her. This tale features Betsy (Alice Brady) and her sister Carissa (Lillian Cook). Both women have romantic feelings for the same man, Clarence Vernon (Frank Mayo) a British soldier. A suitor for Betsy, Joseph Ashburn (John Bowers), challenges Vernon to a duel for the right to court Betsy. Ashburn apparently kills his opponent, which forces him to adopt a new identity and he joins General Washington's army. Meanwhile, Vernon is not dead and he recovers from his injuries in time to rejoin his regiment in the British army. A climactic finale brings these two rivals for Betsy affections together as well as brings us the opportunity for Betsy to perform her historical act.

The Three Musketeers

The classic story by Alexander Dumas is brought to the silver screen and featured the legendary Douglas Fairbanks as D'Artagnan, the young man with aspirations of joining the King's Musketeers. After challenging fabled Musketeers Porthos, Athos and Aramis to a duel, he is taken under their wing to learn the ways of the Musketeers. It isn't long before our four heroes are thrust into a plot by Cardinal Richelieu to discredit the Queen, thus gaining additional favor and power with King Louis XIII. Looking to prevent the embarrassment of their Queen and thus foiling the schemes of Richelieu, our quartet rush to prevent the theft of a broach key to Richelieu's plans.
