Buster Keaton Festival The Blacksmith - This Buster Keaton classic has him as the village blacksmith's assistant, who is as bumbling in his work as the blacksmith is mean-spirited. When an argument between the two men causes the blacksmith to be placed in jail, it's up to the assistant to take over the business until the blacksmith returns. Helping the customers in his typical inept manner, the assistant manages to destroy a Rolls Royce while attempting to repair it as well as help shoe a kind girl's horse which results in him winning her over.
The Boat - This silent classic has our hero (Buster Keaton) completing his basement project, a hand-made boat, and he is eager to get it out and onto the water for him and his family to enjoy. Unfortunately, the boat is too large to get out of the basement and the ensuing efforts to get the boat out of the basement result in the collapse of the family home. With the boat finally out, our hero takes it down to the water and sets sail, only to have it sink.
The Paleface - Buster Keaton stars in this silent classic as an innocent butterfly collector who stumbles into the middle of a land dispute between some greedy oil men and the Native American tribe who occupies the land. When the tribe vows to kill the first "paleface" who enters their village, our butterfly collector is the unfortunate target. After surviving a burning at the stake due to some hilarious acrobatics and some fire-resistant clothing, the butterfly collector is made a member of the tribe and assists them in foiling the plans of the oil men.
Daydreams - This Buster Keaton classic has him as the suitor to a young girl who swears to her father that he will go the big city and make a success of himself; otherwise he'll return home to shoot himself. With the father taking him to his word, our hero heads to the city and ends up taking a variety of low-level jobs that he messes up, all the while he writes home to his girlfriend vaguely describing his positions that allows her to imagine he's a big success. After his latest failed job, he returns home in disgrace to keep his promise that ends up with humorous results.
Buster Keaton Classics The Playhouse - This Buster Keaton classic short moves from dream sequences to reality with a theater, the playhouse of the title, as the center point. This amazing film is most notable for a theater production where Keaton portrays every character, from the musicians to the performers to the audience members. This effect was done through a multiple exposure technique that was truly revolutionary for its time.
The Balloonatic - This was one of Buster Keaton's final shorts before he moved onto making feature films. In this comedy, Keaton wanders into a carnival and accidentally flies off in an experimental balloon. Landing far away in a forest, he is making repairs to the balloon when he meets a girl. Trying to impress the girl with his knowledge of the outdoors, it becomes apparent that the girl in fact knows a great deal more than him.
My Wife's Relations - In this Buster Keaton silent classic, he is falsely accused of breaking a window by a woman and is taken into a courtroom where the judge doesn't understand English. Think that Buster and the woman are engaged, the judge mistakenly marries them and Buster is quickly taken home by the woman to meet her family. At first, Buster is treated severely by his new in-laws but, due to a case of misunderstanding, the family begins to treat Buster nice since they think he's going to inherit a large sum of money. More hilarity ensues when the mistake is discovered, after the family has already moved into a penthouse that they now cannot afford.
The Electric House - Buster Keaton is graduating from college but the diplomas get switched so instead of a degree in botany, he is presented a degree in electrical engineering. Before he can explain the mix-up, the dean of the college hires him to re-wire his home while he and his family are away on a two-week vacation. Keaton takes the job and, through the help of a book called "Electricity Made Easy", he wires the dean's home with all sorts of wonderful new gadgets. Things go wrong when the true electrical engineer graduate sneaks into the dean's house and switches some wiring around.
