Plot
Captain Kidd1945
Captain Kidd (Charles Laughton) convinces the King to grant him a commission to escort a treasure-laden ship from India back to England. The treacherous captain intends to take the treasure for himself and recruits for the voyage so of his most trusted hands. Kidd wasn't expecting to have an "honest" man on board in the form of Adam Mercy (Randolph Scott) or a female passenger in the form of Lady Ann Falconer (Barbara Britton).

A small Balkan country is in the grips of a cruel despot, Count Gurko Lanen (George Sanders), who has taken over the throne from the rightful ruler, Grand Duchess Zona (Joan Bennett). The visiting Count of Monte Cristo (Louis Hayward), acting as an epicene dandy banker, works to help the Grand Duchess is her cause by becoming a masked avenger who battles the Count's forces for the good of the people.
