Plot

Featuring two stunning, cinematic achievements, "Citizen Welles" pays tribute to the legendary genius of writer, director and actor, Orson Welles.

The Stranger (Full Frame)
The 1946 thriller, The Stranger, features Welles as both director and actor. As Franz Kindler, Welles is a Nazi war criminal who has fled to America, where he disguises himself as a small town schoolteacher.

Loretta Young stars as Mary, the young woman who falls in love with the devious, yet charming Kindler, while Edward G. Robinson shines as a tenacious Nazi hunter.

The Trial (1.85:1 Letterboxed)
Adapted from Franz Kafka's novel "Le Proces," The Trial stars Anthony Perkins as Joseph K., an innocent victim charged with an unnamed crime. Masterfully directed by Welles - who sets a riveting, maddening and brilliantly disturbing pace - this rarely seen 1963 gem has long been a cult classic.
