| Plot |
A light-hearted, comedic look at how the deadly disease of SARS has ravaged Hong Kong's economy and social life, CITY OF SARS is divided into 3 tales. In "Frontline", a doctor who chooses his own personal well-being over his moral duty to heal, finds himself in the role of a SARS patient. In "Victims", Mandy has to live under quarantine after her apartment building is discovered to be the epicenter of a major SARS outbreak. During her 10-day mandatory isolation, Mandy befriends her neighbor Kenneth and falls in love with him, not realizing that a surprise awaits her. In "Affected", sarcastic nouveau-rich businessman Lam's (played by the great comedian Eric Tsang) business ventures are in dire straits as a result of the SARS outbreak . Hanging on the brim of bankruptcy, Lam comes up with an immaculate plan--he'll try to get infected with SARS and die from it so as to escape his debts!
