Plot
A short film set in the shadows of the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky. The film follows a father and son as their lives converge and diverge over the course of a single day. The script is an abridged version of a feature-length screenplay of the same title that was selected as a finalist in the Sundance Institute Feature Film Program. The project was shot over the course of a week in Kentucky's Letcher and Harlan Counties.

Coming Down the Mountain deals with life in contemporary Appalachia, a region that has been a subject of frequent documentaries, but has rarely been represented in fiction film. The film takes advantage of the unique setting to explore the emotions of a family that confronts isolation, lack of opportunity, and the harsh economic circumstances that are characteristic of the mountains. The film may also be the first fiction film to deal with the OxyContin epidemic, an outbreak of prescription drug abuse that has significantly influenced the lives of many Appalachians.

Cyan (www.cyanpictures.com) produced the film.

an interesting but disturbing film about life in the appalachians. Eventhough this an abridge versin of the film, there should be a warning about the contents of the film in the nature of drug use and profanity.

This film could have been made better, meaning leave out the nasty language. Why people need to hear it is stupid, a lack of good up-bringing I guess!
