| Plot |
A fantastic jungle chiller! Hobart takes a perilous cruise into the jungle looking for her husband. Her ship is imperiled by jungle cats, giant snakes, and the stares of hidden natives. She soon arrives at Morudu, a lost city of ancient temples and stone idols. There she finds her husband, who is the doctor to the city's despotic ruler. Danger follows as the ruler's lustful desires drive him mad. Some taut scenes of jungle horror. Watch for a native swimming into what may be the largest number of man-eating crocodiles even filmed! The climax is a stunner as a volcano erupts and spews stone, ash, and hot lava down upon the city. Renavent is marvelous as the evil Prince Hashin. Yet, his role is one that was tailor-made for Bela Lugosi. The part reeks with Lugosian dialogue. Renavent's facial shape is even similar to Bela's. An atmospheric film with stunning interior and exterior sets. Mucho recommended by Sinister Cinema, transferred to DVD from 16mm.
