An enormous hit at home in Cuba, this is a delightfully unexpected comedy treat. Who would have expected you could make a successful comedy about life recovering from hurricanes? This film is a charming and disarming look at the hardships of making life work in modern Cuba, at the same time a story of survival and triumph of the human spirit - between hurricanes. After a hurricane in Havana, a charming young trainee telephone repairman, Tomas, runs into trouble with love relationships that threaten his job, his future and his will to change his life. Tomas wants to do the right thing, but it seems that everywhere he turns, he is faced with the difficulty of functioning in a rigidly controlling socialist system, as the beautiful and seductive women in his life (also desperate to acquire phone service!), his boss, family, and friends, all keep pulling him in different directions. Not all hurricanes show up on Doppler radar!
