Plot
"A Frantic Comedy!" - Chicago Sun-TimesThis sexually liberated comedy begins with the arrival of soccer superstar "Blondi" to an economically depressed town in eastern Germany. Very quickly the town's collective fortune and libido are rejuvenated! Micha, son of the soccer team president, is in a serious relationship with local beauty Sylvia. While they profess to love each other, Micha cheats on Sylvia with her best friend. When Sylvia discovers the infidelity, she responds by having a secret affair with Blondi! As the championship game approaches, tensions mount to a combustible level, leading to an unexpected climax for all involved.

Liberated Zone is an interesting film about a town in East Germany. A local business man revives the town’s economy by purchasing a soccer star and bringing success to their failing team. However while the town booms with prosperity and growth, corruption sweeps in. almost every single couple in the film is cheating on one another in a crazy mixed up way. The comedy is often very funny and sharp but the incredible amount of adultery can be serious and depressing. However both the serious and comedic parts of the movie are very well done and the film all together is both eye-opening and amusing at the same time. This movie is a must see for anyone interested but it should be noted that the movie has moments that are much more serious than the description indicates. Also be sure to turn subtitles on, as the film is in German and subtitles are off by default.
