Margaret Cho - Assassin - Movie Download

Plot

Cutting-edge comedienne Margaret Cho fashioned an entirely new act for her Assassin tour in 2005. This film is from the Washington, DC, stop on the tour, with Cho working through her usual brand of hard-hitting political comment and amusing routines about religion, the media, and anything else that has swerved dangerously close to her radar. In an hour and a half Cho manages to get the crowd laughing in the aisles as her finely honed routine nears its climax, with the talented comic managing to perfectly mix politics and comedy in one big laugh-fest.

Margaret Cho’s Assassin is quite a deviation from some of her earlier comedy. Assassin is much more political commentary and preaching than it is comedy. Laughs are often replaced by applause of support, not for humor and even the applause are staggered. The jokes are occasionally, but rarely funny and not always delivered very well. Most of her act is attacking religion, the Bush administration and conservative ideas. Many fans of stand up comedy will probably not like this nearly as much as they would like some of Cho’s earlier work which is much more comedy based and not nearly as politically charged. Assassin’s target audience is limited to liberals who like Cho, are very anti-conservative. However if your beliefs match Cho’s you might find this act supportive and powerful or if you enjoy this unique brand of comedy you may find it entertaining on a different level than contemporary comedy.
