| Plot |
In the depths of the Depression, socialite with a heart of gold, Irene Bullock (Carole Lombard) finds "forgotten man" Godfrey Smith (William Powell) in a scavenger hunt. She takes pity on him and hires him as the family butler. He finds the Bullocks to be the epitome of idle rich, and nutty as a proverbial fruitcake. Screwball antics and romance ensue. Nominated for six Academy Awards! NOTE: Because of the age of the original movie print, the quality of the video has degraded and you will notice some artifacts (i.e. scratchiness), particularly in the beginning of this movie. We still believe, however, that it is worth watching for those interested in the subject matter.
