| Plot |
Buster Keaton plays a naive academic, Professor Post, who thinks that he has inherited a windfall. Hoping to use his newfound wealth to promote the arts, Post gets mixed up with a theater group, headed by Jimmy the piano player (Jimmy Durante). Enthralled by the group's free-spirited leading lady Eleanor Espere (Thelma Todd), the professor agrees to finance their musical, assuming it will be presented in the classical tradition. When he learns that he's bought into just another girlie show, Post walks on stage to apologize to the opening-night audience, only to become the hit of the show himself. Post saves the musical from disaster and also wins him the affection of Pansy Peets (Ruth Selwyn), a hometown girl. The cast also includes Sidney Toler, the future "Charlie Chan."
