Plot

During the Japanese occupation of Korea in the 1930's, the leader of a small resistance movement attempts to get information to sympathizers in China. This leads to a series of breathtaking standoffs between the resistance forces and the Japanese.

  Although the fighting is theatrical in presentation, the best part of this movie was watching Grandmaster Jhoon Rhee perform "perfect" TaeKwon Do. Released also under the title "When TaekwonDo Strikes", it portrays the classic struggle of good vs. evil, but also shows the issue of the Japanese and their treatment and subjigation of the Korean people and their indiginous martial arts. Having met Grandmaster Rhee on several occasions and having seen him perform the kata Kwan-Ge (Kankudai in Shotokan), in costume and in person during one of the U.S. Nationals Karate tournaments in Dallas, Texas, his form was near perfection. This was the old style albeit heavily Japanese-influenced TaeKwonDo that was seen in the early days before protective gear that showcased "Blood and guts" Texas karate.
  Seeing him in this is worth the cost of the video alone. In my opinion, most definitely a collector's item of the genre.
