The Bigamist
1953
A successful traveling salesman from San Francisco spends much of his time traveling back and forth to Los Angeles, much to the frustration of his loving wife. When the childless couple decides to adopt, the responses he gives to some of the agency's questions raises some doubts in the mind of the adoption agency caseworker. Digging deeper into the salesman's background brings up a startling fact; the man has a second wife and child in Los Angeles. Exposed for what he has done, the salesman tries to explain the story behind his two marriages.

The Stars Looked Down
1939
A young man earns a scholarship to a university and leaves his small English mining community in the hopes of returning better suited to help the local miners in dealing with the mine owners. While away, the man is trapped into a marriage with a woman, who ends up returning to her former lover. Our hero returns to his village as a school teacher, before he can finish his degree and reluctantly falls into a less than idyllic life. When an incident at the mine threatens his family and friends, the young man decides to take action.
