A classic "Poverty Row" horror film staring Bella Lagosi as the very mad Dr. Paul Carruthers. The Doctor creates giant killer bats with the help of electricity and then uses them to kill people that have become rich by exploiting his formulas for cosmetics. Carruthers gives his victims a bottle of aftershave, which attracts the giant killer bats.

The story moves along well enough and if you can appreciate the 1940's acting and effects you shouldn't be disappointed. I especially love how Bela Legosi bids farewell to his victims in a way that the audience knows what's coming. |
