1931
Hildy Johnson (Pat O'Brien) is a courtroom reporter who is soon to be married and will then retire from his newspaper and his crooked editor Walter Burns (Adolphe Menjou). Covering one last story before heading off to be married, Johnson stumbles upon a wounded prison escapee who is set to be executed. Johnson is convinced by Burns to hide the prisoner until an exclusive story can be written, in spite of the pressures from the authorities searching for the prisoner and also from Johnson's fiancée Peggy Grant (Mary Brian), impatiently awaiting the arrival of Johnson.

In this charming family tale, a compassionate lighthouse keeper finds a stray seal and brings it home for his children to care for. The children fall in love with their new friend "Sandy" and they are all very happy. When poachers come into the area, the kids and Sandy attempt to run them out of town.
