Buster Keaton is mistaken for a notorious outlaw named Dead Shot Dan. The local police chief chases him around the city, and Buster uses disguises and quick-thinking to elude the lawman. He runs into his young lady friend Virginia, and goes back to her house to hide out only to discover that her father is the police chief!
