Plot
The Great Dan Patch1949
David Palmer (Dennis O'Keefe), a chemist by trade, stumbles across what had appeared to be an ordinary horse but turns out to be the greatest trotter in history, Dan Patch. While his financial success with the horse is great, Palmer's personal life is a wreck due to his marriage to a woman with no interest in his business. Palmer eventually finds love where it's been all along, the daughter of Dan Patch's trainer.

A best-selling novelist hires a new secretary, an aspiring writer herself, to work for him out of his apartment. He soon discovers she is not your typical secretary and she discovers that he is not the boss she was expecting. Disappointed in his immaturity, she quits her job in spite of the fact that she is attracted to him, just as he is to her. Hoping to win her back, the novelist looks to change his ways, but can he truly give up his playboy antics?
