On October 6, 1973, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, Egypt and Syria launched a bold and ingeniously conceived surprise attack against Israel. After three days of intense, bloody combat, an unprepared Israel was fighting for its life. At the center of the fight was Prime Minister Golda Meir, and at the center of William Gibson's Broadway play Golda's Balcony, Tovah Feldshuh travels in search of the core of Golda, the woman who presided over Israel's creation and one of its darkest hours.
This film is a rare, behind the scenes look at the preparation of an actor taking on the role of a lifetime, and of a Prime Minister taking on the greatest crisis of her life. With never before seen interviews with former Heads of State, Commanders in the field, the Ambassador to the U.S., interwoven with scenes from the hit play, this is The Journey to Golda's Balcony.
Starring Tovah Feldshuh, two time Emmy nominee for "Law & Order" and "Holocaust" and narrated by Oscar nominee Alec Baldwin.

It is a documentary, so don't be confused when you watch and its not the actual show. However, the documentary does a great job of presenting the important part of the play and emphasizing the characters of a grave moment in history. For Israel, the Middle East as a whole and also the world. |
