Plot
Contains All 13 Episodes Of The First SeasonThe first of many jewels in CBC's crown of comedy by Ken Finkleman, the now infamous The Newsroom was a critical success, audience-pleaser and attention-getter. The Newsroom offered the unsuspecting public a glimpse into the machinations of the inner sanctum of the local news. And what a scary picture that was....
Overbearing news director George Findlay - played by series writer, director and executive producer Finkleman - is obsessed with casualty statistics in his quest for ratings, and in acquiring an indoor parking spot.
The tumultuous newsroom also features Peter Keleghan as the self-absorbed anchor Jim Walcott, Tanya Allen, the intern with attitude, and Mark Farrell as an ass-kicking producer. Other characters are deftly portrayed by Jeremy Hotz, Karen Hines, and Dave Hubbard.
Celebrities who paraded through the newsroom in cameo roles include sports heroes Alex Gonzalez, Eddie Shack and Angelo Moscsa and Canadian media stars David Cronenberg, Cynthia Dale, Linda McQuaig and Daniel Richter.

This is one of the best TV comedy shows ever made! IMHO, it's up there with Fawlty Towers, Absolutely Fabulous and Curb Your Enthusiasm. The news director is completely without redeeming qualities - a perfect character to build a comedy around.
