The legendary and inimitable Johnny Cash stars as Jesse Hallum, an impoverished and uneducated coal mine worker who is desperate to break free from his limitations. If he wants to get a job in the big city to take care of his ailing daughter, he must first learn to read. Brenda Vaccaro (Midnight Cowboy) and Eli Wallach (Mystic River) co-star in this inspirational feature.
Voyage of the Yes

Desi Arnaz Jr. ("Here's Lucy") and Mike Evans ("The Jeffersons") set out on what is meant to be a leisurely sailboat cruise from the California cost to the Hawaiian islands. Their mutual distrust grows as they encounter problems along the way. Della Reese (Touched by an Angel) is briefly featured.
