Plot
Sir Percy Blakeney (Leslie Howard) is an 18th century English aristocrat who in reality is The Scarlet Pimpernel. Blakeney leads an underground movement to free French noblemen from Robespierre's Reign of Terror. This film is based on the novel by Baroness Emmuska Orczy.Related Links

Well done movie from the 30's. The acting is great, the plot moves along in a lively manner. Howard is wonderfully entertaining in his portrayal of The Pimpernel

The Scarlet Pimpernel was the first super hero. He has the comical alter ego and yet is brave and confident.
I love this movie. I haven't seen the other remakes but recently discovered this and i love it.
