Louis Hayward plays the son of the Count of Monte Cristo. He discovers that the wicked general of Litchenburg is plotting to become king by forcing Grand Duchess Zona (Joan Bennett) to marry him and by killing anyone who gets in his way. Hayward has to disguise himself as a fool in order to expose Litchenburg's sinister plan.
