Marcy Lewis (Jane Wyman) is a stewardess who is seeing three different men all with the same first name, Mike. As her professional life is on the upswing, Lewis must decide which of her boyfriends to pursue. Will she choose graduate student/researcher Mike Lawrence (Van Johnson), or ad executive Mike Tracy (Barry Sullivan), or airline pilot Mike Jamison (Howard Keel)?

A young man is certain that a milk wagon pulling horse has the potential to be a winning racehorse. Convincing a sportsman of his thoughts, the young man and a trainer begin working with "The Great Mike" to get him ready for his first race. The actions of some small-time crooks threaten the horse's chances to make the race unless some last-minute intervention occurs.
